Reserve with Google.

Short version: Reserve with Google is the Book button on your Google listing. Google does not charge you for it, but it does not take the booking either. A booking provider does, or your own booking page if you add the link yourself, and that choice decides whether a client who searched your name costs you a cut.

Booksy treats a Google booking as commission-free. Treatwell charges it as a marketplace booking, 35% of a new client's first visit. Your own link costs nothing at all. Here is how each route works, who qualifies, and how to set it up.

Everything here about Treatwell's contract comes from its own published terms and conditions, last read on 20 October 2026. Google's help pages and the other providers' pages were read the same day. Terms get revised, so check yours against the current version before you act on anything.

The 30-second version

Two ways to get the button.

Google offers both in the same Bookings section of your Business Profile.

RouteHow it worksWhat it costsCatch
A booking provider (Reserve with Google)Pick a supported provider in Bookings; the button shows within a weekWhatever that provider chargesThe customer finishes booking on the provider's page
Your own booking linkAdd the address of your booking page under BookingNothingNo booking stats from Google

You can have both. With more than one, Google shows them in random order unless you mark one as "Business preferred", which then shows first.

The part nobody tells you

What each provider charges for a Google booking.

Google's own help page warns that the provider might charge. Here is what each one says, from its own pages:

ProviderA new client books through GoogleWorth knowing
Treatwell35% of the first booking plus VAT, as a marketplace bookingIts terms say this overrides your own agreement
FreshaNot statedNeeds your marketplace listing on, and is an add-on
Booksy£0, Google is commission-freeEven with Boost switched on
Square AppointmentsNo fee mentioned, free plan includedNo deposits or no-show protection on Google bookings
SetmoreNo fee mentioned, Free and Pro plansOpens your Setmore booking page
SimplyBook.meFree featureEvery service needs a price on it

The Treatwell line is the one to sit up for. Somebody types your salon's name into Google, taps Book, and a client who was looking for you is billed at the same rate as one Treatwell found. We go through the three big salon platforms side by side in Fresha vs Booksy vs Treatwell.

Check this first

Who can get one.

The UK is covered. Google's list of eligible appointment businesses includes hair salons, barbers, beauty and nail salons, tattoo studios, house cleaners, carpenters, pet groomers, dog trainers, gyms, yoga studios, massage therapists and personal trainers. Then come the rules:

A verified profile

Google will not add a booking link to an unverified Business Profile, and your name, address, phone and website have to match your Maps listing.

No chair or room renters

Google's partner policy says the address must be a place you hold ownership of, "no booth renters". Square's help centre says the same.

Open to the public

A service that needs a membership to book does not qualify.

The real price

The price shown has to be the price the customer pays, tips aside.

If you rent a chair, your route to a Book button is your own booking link on your own Business Profile. Not sure your profile is set up properly? Start with setting up your Google Business Profile.

Setting it up

Adding your own booking link.

In Google Search, open your profile and choose Booking. In Google Maps, choose Edit profile. Then Add link, paste the address of your booking page and save. Google checks the link before it shows it, and these are the rules it checks against:

RuleWhat it means for you
A page dedicated to your businessYour own booking page, not a general directory listing
No social, messaging or app linksAn Instagram profile or a WhatsApp link will not be accepted
No link shortenersPaste the full address
Google must be able to load itNo logins, CAPTCHAs or blocking by country, or it may be removed
One link per domainIf a provider already holds that domain on your profile, your new link is dropped

Then mark it Business preferred so it shows above any provider's button.

Worth checking today

Links you never added.

Google says booking partners can put links on your profile themselves. So it is worth looking: search your business name, tap Book, and see whose page opens. If it is a marketplace you do not use, or one that charges you for clients who were already looking for you, remove it.

In Google Search choose Booking, then Remove provider. In Google Maps choose Edit profile, Booking, Remove provider. The provider has five days to take it down, and you can report a violation if it does not. One more thing to know: a cancellation or refund on a Google booking is between you and the customer, under your own policy. Google stays out of it.

The bigger picture

Your name, your booking.

Someone who searches your business by name has already chosen you. That is the last booking anyone should take a cut of. The cleanest setup is a Book button that opens your own booking page, on your own website, with the provider doing the diary work behind it on a flat fee.

It is the same principle as everything else we write about: a customer who finds you should be yours alone. For the rest of what makes your Google listing pull its weight, see getting found on Google Maps.

Straight answers

Questions people actually ask.

Does Google have a booking system?
Not one you run your diary in. Google puts a Book button on your Business Profile, but the booking itself is taken by a booking provider such as Booksy, Fresha, Setmore, Square Appointments or Treatwell, or by your own booking page if you add the link yourself. For appointments, Google sends the customer to that provider's page to finish booking.
Is Reserve with Google free?
Google does not charge you for it. Your booking provider might. Booksy lists Google Search and Google Maps as commission-free, and Setmore, SimplyBook.me and Square offer it on their free or standard plans. Treatwell charges its marketplace commission on Google bookings, 35% of a new client's first booking plus VAT. Fresha needs your marketplace listing switched on and does not say how it charges a Google booking.
How do I get a Book button on Google?
Verify your Business Profile first. Then either open Bookings in your profile, choose Get started and pick a supported provider, which shows within a week, or add your own booking link: in Google Search choose Booking, in Google Maps choose Edit profile, then Add link, paste the address of your booking page and save.
Can I add my own booking link instead of using a provider?
Yes, and it is the only route where no partner sits between you and the customer. The link has to go to a page dedicated to your business, and Google will not accept social media pages, WhatsApp or other messaging links, app store links or link shorteners. Google must be able to load it, so no logins or CAPTCHAs. The one thing you lose is Google's booking performance data, which it only shows for provider bookings.
How do I remove a booking link I did not add?
Booking partners can add links to your profile on their own. In Google Search choose Booking, then Remove provider; in Google Maps choose Edit profile, Booking, Remove provider. Google gives the provider five days to remove it, and you can report a violation if they do not.
Can a chair renter use Reserve with Google?
Usually not. Google's policy for appointment partners says the address must be the place the business conducts the service and holds ownership of, with no booth renters, and Square says the same in its help centre. If you rent a chair or a room, your own booking link on your own Business Profile is the realistic route.
