Nobody sells graffiti removal leads. The work is in the contracts.

Bark has no graffiti category. Digitool, PromoSEO and Leads Everyday sell pressure washing leads, and none has a graffiti page. The whole country searches "graffiti removal" about 390 times a month. So the graffiti removal leads worth having come from three places: councils, housing groups and Network Rail putting the work out to contract, owners a council has told to clean up, and businesses too big for the council's free service.

Rochdale's graffiti contract is worth £141,000 over three years. Network Rail's for its Southern Region is worth £4,560,000, and three firms bid for it. Both notices are free to read.

Where we stand

We don't sell graffiti removal leads. We help you get your own.

This guide is the honest version of what buying graffiti removal leads costs, and who else gets them. What we do instead is build graffiti removal firms a website that turns visits into calls, and run Google Ads in an account in your own name, so every lead that comes in is a customer who found you, and nobody else was sold it.

What the work pays

One wall is about £115. A monthly client is about £2,400 a year.

Checkatrade puts graffiti removal at £42 to £135 per square metre by steam or chemicals, plus a call-out fee, with most jobs taking one to two hours a square metre. An anti-graffiti coating on top is £99 to £180 per square metre. By the job, here is one UK firm's published price guide, and what a win costs if you buy each lead through your own Google Ads.

JobTypical UK priceAt £99 a leadAt £252 a lead
Small domestic wall£80 to £150£297 a win, 258% of the job£756 a win, 657% of the job

Multi-surface commercial site£300 to £1,200£297 a win, 40% of the job£756 a win, 101% of the job
Regular (monthly) removal, a year£1,200 to £3,600£297 a win, 12% of the job£756 a win, 32% of the job

Job prices from PureSeal Services' price guide (December 2025), one firm's figures. The two lead prices are the cheapest and dearest graffiti searches below, divided by WordStream's 7.33% conversion rate. One win in 3 is MyJobQuote's figure for its trades.

A won customer should cost about 10 to 15 percent of the job. On a single wall that leaves room for a lead of about £4 to £6. On a client paying for monthly visits, it leaves about £80 to £120, and the cheap end of the search ads sits inside it at 12%. That's the customer to advertise for.

The council is quoting against you too

Some councils sell graffiti removal to local businesses, and they publish their rates:

East Hampshire

£83 an hour

Materials on top, and a disclaimer signed before work starts.

Milton Keynes

About £50 an hour plus VAT

For business premises, after a visit to quote.

Richmond upon Thames

£188 a year

Unlimited removal for businesses with more than nine staff. Free for smaller ones and households.

Where the council does it free, the shop next door isn't your customer. The chains, landlords, managing agents and housing groups it charges or turns away are. Cleaning firms adding graffiti to their list will find the same split in our cleaning leads guide.

Work out what a graffiti lead is worth to you.

Pick the job you quote most, set how many quotes you give per job won, then put in what a lead costs you. Try a single wall, then a year of monthly visits, and watch how far the same lead price goes.

The directories: a listing beside the pressure washers

Checkatrade's "Graffiti Remover" search for Chester-le-Street shows four results, the first one sponsored, and the firms in it are mostly property care and pressure cleaning businesses. FreeIndex shows six members under graffiti removal, Premium at £9.95 a month or £99.50 a year with no refunds. A homeowner with a tag on the garage finds you there. A council, a housing group or a managing agent with fifty sites mostly doesn't. Checkatrade's current offer terms apply to a 12-month Fixed Plan membership, and whether that pays is the question in is Checkatrade worth it.

The lead companies stop at the patio

Digitool, PromoSEO and Leads Everyday all sell exterior cleaning leads, and none has a graffiti page. Leads Everyday's list runs "pressure washing, softwashing, render cleaning, patio cleaning, or driveway jet washing". Digitool's terms say it runs campaigns in accounts it owns, and that "Digitool owns those accounts, campaign structures, campaign data". If you clean drives as well as walls, our pressure washing leads guide covers what those firms charge.

Tender alerts: paying for what is free to search

Stotles keeps a graffiti removal feed and offers a free plan, with Growth from £475 a month. Tenders Direct's Basic plan is £1,359. Tracker gives a three-day trial and no price. The notices themselves are published free on Contracts Finder, which lists public contracts over £12,000 including VAT, and on Find a Tender. Search for "graffiti", or the code 90690000. What a paid alert can save you is the hunt through bundled notices, where graffiti sits inside street cleansing or estate services.

Everything here about Checkatrade's contract comes from its own published terms and conditions, last read on 15 October 2026. Terms get revised, so check yours against the current version before you act on anything.

Rather have graffiti removal leads that are yours alone?

That's what we do. We don't sell leads. We build the website and run the Google Ads that bring customers straight to you, in an ad account in your name that stays yours if you ever leave.

Council and rail contracts

A council contract runs for years, and the notice is free to read.

These are real graffiti removal contracts, with the values their notices give. Four of the five went to firms with graffiti in their name.

From the award notices on Contracts Finder and Find a Tender. Harrow's and Network Rail's values exclude VAT; the others are the total contract value as published.

Price wins half the marks, or more

Merton scored one graffiti quotation 60% on price and 40% on quality. Network Rail split its contract 50/50. The rest of the marks go on how you'll do the work, so a method statement for each surface is part of the bid.

Graffiti often comes bundled with other work

Harrow's covered fly-posting, preventative coatings and cleaning street furniture. Stockport Homes put graffiti removal in a £900,000 contract beside house clearances and pest removal. A national housing framework lot worth £75m lists it next to litter picking and window cleaning.

Before you bid, get pre-qualified

CHAS Elite, from £949 a year, is the only CHAS tier it marks as meeting public sector requirements. SafeContractor starts at £419 a year for an owner operator. Then:

  • Search "graffiti" weekly on Contracts Finder
  • Read the bundled cleansing notices too
  • Write a method statement per surface
  • Price the reactive call-outs separately
  • Bid on the small ones first

For scale: Network Rail says it spends more than £3.5m a year removing graffiti, and Barnsley Council spent £91,048 on 961 reported cases in 2025. Stevenage's whole year of graffiti removal was a £40,000 contract. Firms that bid for other public work will recognise the process from our construction leads guide.

Who has to pay

When the council writes to the owner, the owner needs a firm.

Councils clean their own benches, bins and buildings. Graffiti on a shop or a block of flats is the owner's problem, and the law gives councils a way to make it one.

England and Wales: the community protection notice

Under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, a council can serve a notice after a written warning. Graffiti on premises counts as the conduct of whoever "owns, leases, occupies, controls, operates, or maintains" them. Ignore it and it's an offence. On land open to the air the council can do the work itself and send the owner the bill. The old 2003 defacement notices many guides still quote were repealed in 2014.

Scotland and Northern Ireland: 28 days at least

Councils there serve a graffiti removal notice on whoever is responsible for a road surface, or for property of a school, college or statutory undertaker such as a utility or rail operator. They get not less than 28 days, after which the council can clear it and recover the cost.

Brighton & Hove reported 220 pieces of tagging cleared in 2022/23 after warnings and notices went to commercial owners. Newcastle's line is that graffiti on private buildings "is also the responsibility of the owner to remove or obscure". East Hampshire won't deal with it on private or commercial property at all.

An owner holding a warning letter has a deadline and nobody to call. Say on your website that you clear graffiti to a council notice, and ask for the deadline when they ring. If you run ads, it's worth reading Google Ads for tradespeople before you write them.

Buying the click yourself

The whole UK searches for it about 390 times a month.

Searches for a graffiti removal firm cost £7.24 to £18.46 a click, dearest in London. At WordStream's 7.33% conversion rate, that's £99 to £252 a lead. It's a US figure, so treat it as a guide.

Google Ads data for the UK, pulled 15 October 2026. These are bid-based estimates, so most advertisers pay less per click. Searches for removal sprays and DIY methods are left out, and so are city searches with 20 a month or fewer.

At those prices a one-off wall can't pay for its lead: a £185 shopfront clean bought at £99 a lead costs 161% of the job per win. A business that books you every month can. So point the ads at the buyer, not the tag:

  • Bid on "graffiti removal company" and "services"
  • Sell a monthly or quarterly visit
  • Say you work to council notice deadlines
  • Show the coating as a follow-on
  • Keep the account in your name

How big a budget that needs is worked through in how much to spend on Google Ads.

No spring rush, so no reason to wait for one

"graffiti removal" peaked at 590 searches in March and was lowest at 320 in December and August. Most months sit at 390. Exterior cleaning swings hard with the weather; graffiti barely moves, so a small budget can run all year.

Before you quote

Three jobs to price with care, or turn down.

Each of these lands on the firm holding the lance as much as on the owner who called.

The listed building or old wall

Section 7 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 makes it an offence to "execute or cause to be executed" works that affect a listed building's character without consent, with up to two years in prison on indictment. Historic England says consent will usually be needed before graffiti comes off a listed building, defines low pressure as 17 bar or less, prefers sacrificial wax coatings and says permanent ones should be avoided. Ask whether the building is listed before you price it, and price a trial patch.

The tin of DCM paint stripper

HSE says using paint stripper containing DCM at work "is prohibited unless the worker is a competent person who has completed and passed the HSE competence training scheme and is certified". If nobody on the van holds that certificate, it stays off the job.

The gully at the foot of the wall

gov.uk says "Surface water drains discharge directly to the environment", so chemical runoff has to go to the foul drain, be recycled or be taken away by a registered waste carrier. The fine for polluting is unlimited. The guidance covers England. Price the capture, and say on your website that you do it: a council scoring your method statement will look for it.

Which way to go

Bid for the contracts. Advertise for the monthly clients.

Tender for it if

  • You hold or can get CHAS
  • You can cover reactive call-outs
  • You write a sound method statement
  • You can wait for a decision

A directory if

  • Homeowners are your market
  • You clean drives as well
  • A 12-month plan is fine
  • You only need a profile

Run your own ads if

  • You sell monthly visits
  • You work a big city
  • You clear to notice deadlines
  • Your account, kept if you leave

A managing agent who found you through your own ad can ring you again for the next tag, and nobody else was sold their number. For how bought leads compare across every trade, see our trade leads guide.

Where these figures come from

We run Google Ads for trades, so we have an interest in this, and we've shown where a one-off job can't carry the cost of an ad.

Sellers, directories and council pages were read on their own websites on 15 October 2026. Click prices and search volumes are Google Ads data for the UK, pulled the same day. Job prices are from Checkatrade's cost guide and PureSeal Services' price guide. Contract values are from the notices on Contracts Finder and Find a Tender. The law is from legislation.gov.uk.

Questions graffiti firms ask

Graffiti removal leads, answered.

Can I buy graffiti removal leads in the UK?
Not as a graffiti product. Bark has no graffiti category, and Digitool, PromoSEO and Leads Everyday sell pressure washing and exterior cleaning leads but have no graffiti page. Checkatrade, TrustATrader and FreeIndex list graffiti removal firms, which is a directory listing, not a lead feed. The only graffiti-specific thing on sale is tender alerts.
How much is a graffiti removal job worth?
Checkatrade puts removal at £42 to £135 per square metre by steam or chemicals, plus a call-out fee, and an anti-graffiti coating at £99 to £180 per square metre. One UK firm's price guide puts a small domestic wall at £80 to £150 and monthly removal for one site at £1,200 to £3,600 a year.
Where do I find council graffiti removal contracts?
On Contracts Finder, which lists public contracts over £12,000 including VAT and lets you search and apply without an account, and on Find a Tender for bigger ones. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use their own portals. Paid alert services such as Stotles and Tenders Direct search them for you.
Do councils remove graffiti from private property?
Some do, some charge and some won't touch it. Richmond removes it free for households and businesses with nine staff or fewer and charges larger firms £188 a year for unlimited removal. East Hampshire charges £83 an hour plus materials. Newcastle says graffiti on private buildings is the owner's responsibility.
Can a council make a business remove graffiti?
In England and Wales, yes, through a community protection notice under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, after a written warning. Graffiti on premises counts as the conduct of whoever owns, leases, occupies, controls, operates or maintains them, and ignoring the notice is an offence. Scotland and Northern Ireland have graffiti removal notices with at least 28 days to comply.
Do I need consent to remove graffiti from a listed building?
Usually. Historic England says consent will usually be required before work starts on listed buildings and scheduled monuments, because cleaning methods can cause irreversible damage. Under section 7 of the 1990 Act, anyone who carries out or causes works affecting a listed building's character without consent commits an offence.
Can I use a DCM paint stripper on graffiti?
Only with HSE certification. HSE says using paint stripper containing DCM at work is prohibited unless the worker has completed and passed its competence training scheme and is certified.
