The resin driveway fine began with a lead generator.

Lead Pronto sells driveway leads from £10 each, each one sold to a single installer. Zapo, formerly Get Work, runs search ads for driveway firms from £400 a month plus VAT, which its own estimate puts at about £40 a lead. Buy the click yourself and a driveway search costs £3.51 to £15.26.

The price is the easy part to judge. In January 2024 the ICO fined Skean Homes £100,000 for 614,342 calls about resin driveways to people who had opted out of sales calls. Its data came from a lead generator's lifestyle survey, and Skean's name was nowhere on it.

The cheapest driveway lead comes from a seller the ICO has fined.

Lead Pronto's driveway page says "Our campaigns are compliant with ASA and ICO." In November 2025 the ICO fined Lead Pronto £30,000 over boiler grant texts, because its privacy policy named none of the 18 clients it generated data for. Every seller, quoted.

Where we stand

We don't sell driveway leads. We help you get your own.

This guide is the honest version of what buying driveway leads costs, and who else gets them. What we do instead is build driveway installers a website that turns visits into calls, and run Google Ads in an account in your own name, so every lead that comes in is a customer who found you, and nobody else was sold it.

What you are buying

A reseal and a new drive cost the same to buy.

Leads Do Work shows its latest driveway enquiries on its own website. Across 22 and 23 September 2026 they read "Tarmac driveway Looking for quotes.", "I want something nice done for driveway" and "tarmac front garden for car parking .about 33 sqm" from Hayes. One from Milton Keynes ended "I cannot afford to spend loads". No surface, no size, or a budget warning: that is what arrives before you ring.

Here is what driveway jobs are worth, and what a lead costs per drive won at the two prices that work out per lead, if you win one quote in 3.

JobTypical UK priceLead Pronto, £10 a leadZapo, about £40 a lead
Reseal a tarmac drive (60m²)£480 to £720£30 a win, 5% of the job£120 a win, 20% of the job
New tarmac driveway£1,300 to £7,500£30 a win, 1% of the job£120 a win, 3% of the job
Resin bound driveway£2,800 to £10,000£30 a win, 0% of the job£120 a win, 2% of the job
Block paved driveway£2,500 to £11,000£30 a win, 0% of the job£120 a win, 2% of the job

Tarmac, reseal and block paving prices from MyJobQuote's cost guides (updated August 2026), resin bound from Checkatrade's (June 2026), each worked at the middle of its range. Lead Pronto's £10 is its starting price. Zapo's is its Launch plan divided by its own lead estimate, plus VAT. One win in 3 is MyJobQuote's figure for its trades.

On a new drive neither price matters much: a new tarmac drive won through Zapo costs 3% of the job. The reseal is where it bites. At £480 to £720, a won reseal costs 20% of the job at Zapo's rate, above the 10 to 15 percent a won customer should cost, and a lead that just says "Looking for quotes" could be either.

If you only lay resin

Lead Pronto says "an installer who only lays resin does not want a tarmac job three counties away" and filters by surface. Agree those filters in writing before the first invoice, including whether patios and paths count, because its answer to an off-brief lead is to "Provide feedback".

If you do gardens as well

A firm that lays patios, turf and fencing alongside drives gets more from a mixed feed than a resin specialist does. The garden side has its own guide, landscaping leads, with its own sellers and seasons.

Your numbers

Work out your own ceiling for a driveway lead.

Choose the surface you lay, say how many quotes it takes you to land one drive, then type in a seller's price per lead. A reseal and a block paved drive give you very different ceilings.

Lead Pronto: the lowest price, and a penalty on file

Lead Pronto's driveway leads start at £10, with "no retainer and no contract", and every lead is "sold once, to one installer, and never resold". Booked appointments start at £130, and a campaign under your own name costs "a typical fee of 25% of the ad spend we manage". Its own figure for driveway leads that become a booked appointment is 22%.

The cheap option is the non-branded one, which "runs on assets we already own". The homeowner fills in a Lead Pronto form, so their consent is given to Lead Pronto, and that consent is exactly what the ICO found wanting in 2025: 18 clients received data and the privacy policy named none of them. Ask to see the wording a driveway homeowner agrees to, with your business named in it, before your first order.

Zapo, formerly Get Work: 3.6 million searches, or 3.2

Get Work's driveway page opens with "Over 3.6 million people search Google for a driveway specialist each month" and, further down, says "over 3.2 million". Neither comes with a source. In Google Ads data, 30 common driveway and paving searches, from "resin driveway" to "dropped kerb", add up to 106,130 a month.

The model is search ads sent to a website it builds for you, with one firm per trade per area. If your area is taken you join a waiting list, and its pricing page warns "We rarely see customers cancel our service, so it can take some time before an area becomes available." On zapo.com the Launch plan is £400 a month plus VAT, £200 of it ad budget, for an estimated 10 leads, arriving "within the next 14 days" on the driveway page and "within 1-4 weeks" on the pricing page.

Trades Grow sells driveways on Facebook

Trades Grow's Starter plan is £1,200 a month, which is £1,000 of ad spend and a £200 fee, for an estimated 30+ leads from "Done-for-you Meta ads". The first 7 enquiries carry no fee, though you still pay for the ads. Its FAQ is candid: Meta driveway leads run "from around £10 to £70 each" and "can be earlier in the buying process than Google leads". Someone who stopped scrolling at a resin photo is not yet someone who searched for an installer.

The rest: lists, shared feeds and fees on shortlist

Leads Everyday promises "Targeted Google Ads" on its driveway page, and the process section below says "We build targeted lists and craft compelling outreach." Ask which of the two you are paying for. Leads Do Work fills its feed from "300+ online platforms", among them mydrivewayprices.co.uk and tarmac-driveway.co.uk, and says its leads "may be shared". MyJobQuote lets up to three trades accept each job. MyBuilder charges when the homeowner shortlists you, whether or not you win, covered in is MyBuilder worth it. ResinGrowth, for resin bound only, says you pay only when a lead "becomes a confirmed installation", and does not publish the fee.

Everything here about Lead Pronto's contract comes from its own published terms and conditions, last read on 23 September 2026. Terms get revised, so check yours against the current version before you act on anything.

Rather have driveway leads that are yours alone?

That's what we do. We don't sell leads. We build the website and run the Google Ads that bring driveway customers straight to you, in an ad account in your name that stays yours if you ever leave.

Buying the click yourself

Bid on the resin drive and skip the reseal.

"resin bound driveway" is searched 3,600 times a month at £5.41 a click. "resin driveway installers" is the dearest click on the list at £15.26, and only 90 people a month search it. The last column divides each click by WordStream's 7.33% conversion rate for home improvement search ads. That rate comes from US campaigns, so read it as a guide.

Google Ads data for the UK, pulled 23 September 2026. The click prices are bid-based estimates, so most advertisers pay less per click.

At £48 to £208 a lead, your own ads cost more per lead than Lead Pronto's £10 starting price. The difference is in who the homeowner contacted, and which drives you paid to hear about:

  • Resin and block paving searches only
  • No crack repairs or reseals
  • The homeowner contacted you
  • No other installer was sold it
  • Cut spend in the dead of winter
  • The ad account is in your name

One more resin drive at £2,800 to £10,000 pays for a lot of clicks, and so does a tarmac drive at £1,300 to £7,500. What to budget before judging the results is in how much to spend on Google Ads.

Google Local Services Ads

Look down Google's UK Local Services Ads categories and the nearest fits are "Landscaping services" and "General contractor services". Driveways and paving get no category of their own, so a driveway firm can only look for a way in under a wider heading. Where it works, you pay for each answered call. The detail is in our Local Services Ads guide.

Before you quote

Tarmac over a front garden can need planning permission.

The Planning Portal puts the line in one sentence: "If the surface to be covered is more than five square metres planning permission will be needed for laying traditional, impermeable driveways that do not provide for the water to run to a permeable area." Gravel, permeable concrete block paving, porous asphalt, or a hard surface that drains onto a lawn or border need no permission at any size.

Now read the Hayes lead again: "tarmac front garden for car parking", about 33 square metres. MyJobQuote's tarmac guide says plainly that "tarmac is not permeable". Laid as asked, with the water running to the road, that drive is more than 6 times over the 5 square metre line. The lead is worth having. The quote needs to offer the permeable version, or a drain to a border, or tell the customer to apply first.

The dropped kerb

A new drive in a front garden is useless without a way across the pavement. The Planning Portal says driving over one without a dropped kerb is illegal, and the homeowner has to apply to the council for it; gov.uk links each council's process for England and Wales. One MyBuilder lead said "already have a dropped curve", which is the lead you want. Ask on the first call.

Why the rule is there

It came in on 1 October 2008. The gov.uk guidance blames paved-over front gardens for adding to flooding and to pollution washed into watercourses, after the 2007 floods did damage "estimated at about £3bn". A homeowner who has heard about it will ask. Have the permeable options ready.

The rule applies to houses, not flats or maisonettes, and only to the front garden. The Planning Portal covers England and notes that Wales may differ. No seller we read mentions it, so put it on your website: which of your surfaces need no permission is a selling point, and landscapers paving a front garden run into the same line.

Through the year

Resin searches rise 3.3 times from December to April.

"resin driveway near me" was searched most in April and least in December. Lead Pronto says tarmac volume "is strongest in spring and autumn", and Leads Do Work says driveway enquiries "often increase during spring and summer". The resin figures agree about spring.

Spring is the rush

Searches climb through March to a peak of 1,600 in April, then hold level through the summer.

Budget with the weather

A monthly lead plan bills the same in December, when 480 people search, as it does in spring. With your own ads, you can turn the budget down for winter and back up in March.

Where the lead came from

Skean Homes rang 614,342 numbers about resin drives.

Complaints to the ICO named three trading names, "Eco Hub", "Driveway Solutions" and "Eco Driveways", on calls "promoting energy grants for resin driveways". Every call, from 2 March to 31 May 2022, went to a number registered with the Telephone Preference Service. The penalty notice records that Skean "did not identify itself on the calls and/or provided false company names".

One of 31 complaints

"This is the second call I have had about Resin Drives. I find its annoying when you tell someone you don't want a resin drive, or any drive resurfaced but they still keep at you."

Skean's defence was its supplier. The data came from a lead generator that ran lifestyle surveys, and Skean accepted it "was not named in the lifestyle survey". The ICO's reply: "It is not acceptable to rely on assurances given by third party suppliers without undertaking proper due diligence." The fine was £100,000, in a notice dated 11 January 2024. Among the steps the ICO said Skean should have taken was screening the numbers against the TPS itself, whatever the supplier promised.

Before you pay for a driveway lead, get answers to these:

  • Whose name was on the form?
  • Which website took the details?
  • When did they give consent?
  • Has the number been checked on TPS?
  • How many other firms have it?

The ICO's wider guidance on buying marketing data, and the other home improvement cases, are covered in our roofing leads guide.

Drives you can lay

A block paved drive takes 4 to 5 days. Count the leads first.

MyJobQuote gives 4 to 5 days for a block paved drive and 2 to 3 for new tarmac, so one crew on block paving has room for four or five drives a month. Zapo's top plan estimates 40 leads a month. At one win in 3, that is about 13 drives, several crews' worth.

A lead nobody rings back costs the same as one that turns into a drive. Lead Pronto's own FAQ says installers "who ring within minutes book considerably more quotes than those who wait until the end of the day". The research on reply speed is set out in the roofing guide.

A drive agreed at the kitchen table can be cancelled

Measure the drive, then sign the quote inside the house, and the contract is an off-premises one under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013:

  • The customer gets 14 days to cancel
  • The cancellation form goes with the quote
  • Miss it and the window grows by 12 months
  • An earlier start needs a written request

Leaving out the cancellation information is also an offence. The money at risk is the aggregate, the skip and the resin you order in the first fortnight, so put the cancellation wording on the quote and get the go-ahead to start early by text or email.

Which way to go

Pick by the surface you lay, then by the drives a crew can finish.

Buy per lead if

  • You take reseals and repairs
  • You run more than one crew
  • You ring back within minutes
  • You have seen the consent

Think twice if

  • You only lay resin
  • One crew, four drives a month
  • The seller shares leads
  • Nobody shows you the form

Run your own if

  • You want new drives, not repairs
  • You want to spend in spring
  • You want the consent to be yours
  • Your account, kept if you leave

Plenty of installers do both: a bought lead or two to fill a wet week, and their own ads bringing in the resin and block paving drives they would rather lay. If a directory is the other thing you are weighing up, read is Checkatrade worth it, and for the same sums worked for other trades, see trade leads.

Our sources

Where these figures come from.

We build websites and run Google Ads for trades, so we are not neutral, and this guide says so where a bought driveway lead is the cheaper one. Every seller is quoted from its own website.

Seller pages, pricing and terms were read on their own sites on 23 September 2026. Click prices and search volumes are Google Ads data for the UK, pulled the same day. Driveway prices are from MyJobQuote's tarmac and block paving guides and Checkatrade's resin bound guide. The planning rule is from the Planning Portal and gov.uk, the dropped kerb from gov.uk, and the Skean Homes case from the ICO's penalty notice. The planning rules here are for England; Scotland and Northern Ireland are not covered.

Questions installers ask

Driveway leads, answered.

How much do driveway leads cost in the UK?
Lead Pronto prices driveway leads from £10 each and booked appointments from £130, without saying whether VAT is added. Zapo, formerly Get Work, charges £400 to £1,600 a month plus VAT for search ads, about £40 per estimated lead on its cheapest plan. Trades Grow's Facebook and Instagram plans start at £1,200 a month, and its own FAQ puts a Meta driveway lead at around £10 to £70. A click on a driveway search in Google costs £3.51 to £15.26.
Are driveway leads exclusive?
It depends who you buy from. Lead Pronto says each lead is "sold once, to one installer". Get Work takes one firm per trade per area, and Trades Grow says it does "not deliberately sell the same driveway lead to several companies". Leads Do Work says its driveway leads "may be shared with a small number of suitable local contractors", MyJobQuote lets up to three trades accept each job, and on MyBuilder the homeowner picks who gets their details.
Is it legal to buy driveway leads?
Buying them is legal. Calling people off them without the right consent is not, and the buyer carries that risk. Skean Homes, whose calls pushed resin driveways, was fined £100,000 in January 2024 after using data from a lead generator whose survey never named it. Lead Pronto, which sells driveway leads, was fined £30,000 in November 2025 because its privacy policy named none of the 18 clients it generated data for.
Does a new front driveway need planning permission?
In England, not if it is permeable: gravel, permeable block paving, porous asphalt, or a hard surface that drains onto a lawn or border. A traditional impermeable surface over 5 square metres of a front garden, with the water running off to the road, needs planning permission. The rule covers houses, not flats or maisonettes, and Wales may differ.
Who applies for a dropped kerb?
The homeowner applies to their local council, and gov.uk links to each council's process for England and Wales. The Planning Portal says driving over a pavement onto your property without a dropped kerb is illegal, so a drive quoted for a house without one depends on the council saying yes.
When do people search for resin driveways most?
UK searches for "resin driveway near me" peaked in April and bottomed out in December, about 3.3 times lower. They were back to their usual level by January and climbed through March.
Can a customer cancel a driveway they agreed at home?
Yes. A contract agreed at the customer's home falls under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, which give 14 days to cancel. Without the cancellation information, that period can stretch by up to 12 months, and failing to give it is an offence. If they want the drive laid inside the 14 days, get that request from them in writing.
