A glazing lead costs £7. An emergency glazier lead off Google costs about £443.
Leads Do Work sells glazing leads at £7 each plus VAT, joint cheapest on its window price list. Bark charges in credits priced by the job, MyJobQuote has a glazing category, and Checkatrade sells lead plans. Buy the click yourself and a glass search costs £2.04 to £33.83. The top of that range is the emergency and board-up searches, which cost more per lead than a board-up is worth.
So the cheap lead and the dear click sit at opposite ends of the same trade. Which one makes you money depends on what your van carries: sealed units or plywood.
Straight off a seller's feed
"Replace double glass 110cm by 60 broken glass today"
A customer in South Petherton posted that on 23 September, and it sits on Leads Do Work's public list of glass replacement leads. MyJobQuote prices a standard double glazed unit at £55 to £145. Win one quote in 3 and that £7 lead costs you £21 a job.
Where we stand
We don't sell glazier leads. We help you get your own.
This guide is the honest version of what buying glazier leads costs, and who else gets them. What we do instead is build glaziers a website that turns visits into calls, and run Google Ads in an account in your own name, so every lead that comes in is a customer who found you, and nobody else was sold it.
What you are buying
Ten bought glass leads. Not one board-up, splashback or mirror.
The 10 leads on Leads Do Work's feed, dated 7 to 27 September, show what the £7 buys. Most were broken or tired units: "Two glass panels to be replaced in the kitchen" in Enfield, a garden room with a "smashed glass panel" in Chippenham, and a Ballymena customer with double glazed windows that had "blown". 3 were rooflights: a "Small velux" with "one layer of glass shattered" in Chislehurst and two skylights in Paisley and Mansfield. Its glazier page lists "emergency board-up and glazing callouts following break-ins" among the jobs, but none turned up on the feed.
Here is what that price does to each job at one win in 3, set beside a lead from your own ad on "replace glass in window", which works out at about £85.
| Job | Typical UK price | Leads Do Work, £7 a lead | Own ad, about £85 a lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Replace a single-glazed pane | £50 to £130 | £21 a win, 23% of the job | £256 a win, 284% of the job |
| Replace a standard double-glazed unit | £55 to £145 | £21 a win, 21% of the job | £256 a win, 256% of the job |
| Replace a conservatory side panel unit | £120 to £250 | £21 a win, 11% of the job | £256 a win, 138% of the job |
| Emergency board-up after a break-in | £100 to £300 | £21 a win, 11% of the job | £256 a win, 128% of the job |
| Fit made-to-measure toughened glass | £300 to £700 | £21 a win, 4% of the job | £256 a win, 51% of the job |
Single pane from MyBuilder's window glass guide (August 2026); unit and conservatory panel from MyJobQuote's blown window guide (September 2026); toughened glass from MyBuilder's made-to-measure installation range (June 2026). The board-up row is what trades quoted a homeowner on MyJobQuote in August 2026, because no cost guide we could open prices one. Ranges are worked at their middle. Winning one quote in 3 is MyJobQuote's figure for its trades; nobody publishes an independent UK figure. Lead prices are before VAT.
A won customer should cost about 10 to 15 percent of the job. At £7, a conservatory panel sits at 11% and a toughened glass job at 4%. A single pane is 23%, which is over the band but still a small sum. Your own ad on the same pane costs 284% of the job. For small glass, the bought lead is the cheaper route.
The guides can't agree on a blown unit
MyJobQuote puts a standard unit at £55 to £145, and says fitting one takes 30 to 60 minutes. Checkatrade's misted double glazing guide says £225 to £275 a unit. Your customer has probably read one of them, so put your own price on your website before the call.
If the lead is a whole new window
The Pwllheli lead wanted "Two replacement double glazing in dormer", and the Looe customer was "open to ideas about replacement also". Whole windows are an installer's market, with its own sellers, prices and paperwork. Our double glazing leads guide covers it, and conservatory roofs and builds are in conservatory leads. A customer after a full set of folding doors belongs in our bifold door leads guide. Someone asking for film on the panes they already have wants a tinter, and window tinting leads deals with that work.

WHAT CAN YOU PAY FOR A GLAZIER LEAD?
Pick a job, or type in what yours are worth
Starts on one in three, the figure MyJobQuote tells its own trades to expect. Put in yours.
You can pay up to about
£5
a lead, winning one in 3
- Healthy range, per won job
- £10 to £15
- Which per lead is
- £3 to £5
Put a seller's price in the last box and this will tell you what each won job would cost you.
That 10 to 15 percent band is a rule of thumb we use across every trade. Nobody has measured it.
Who sells them
Search for glazing leads and Google shows you double glazing sellers.
"glazing leads" gets about 10 searches a month with no bid on it, and "glazier leads" has no recorded searches at all. On 1 October 2026, all ten of Google's top results for "glazing leads" were selling double glazing leads to window firms. The sellers who will actually send a glazier a broken pane are below. Seller pages and prices are quoted from each firm's own website, and "Not stated" means the firm doesn't say.
| Seller | Price | Who else gets the lead | In their words |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leads Do Work | £7 a lead + VAT, £11 a week | 1 to 3 others, 5 at most | "misted double-glazed unit replacements, cracked or broken pane repairs" |
| Bark | Credits at £1.80, priced by job and area | Up to 5 professionals | "valid for 3 months" |
| MyJobQuote | Not published for glazing | Up to 3 tradesmen | "Blown Windows, Cracked Panes, Hinges, Handles, Sealing" |
| Checkatrade | £30 a month, lead plans from £59 | Not stated | "Pick a plan that fits" |
| Zapo (formerly Get Work) | From £400 a month | Nobody | "exclusive leads to glazing companies, glazing suppliers and installers" |
Leads Do Work prices glazing like a uPVC repair
Its Connect price list has a "Windows | Glazing" row at £7 from a homeowner and £11 from a business, plus VAT and an £11 weekly fee. A uPVC window repair is the same £7; aluminium and wooden window repairs are £16. A blown unit you quote for can reach 1 to 3 other glaziers too, 5 at the outside, under its terms. Its glazier page puts it more gently: "many customers ask more than one local tradesperson for a quote".
The same page offers "a fixed-price weekly subscription", but the fixed-price Smart Local packs have no glazing row. Returns are "manually reviewed", so ask before you start whether a dormer window replacement counts as a glazing lead you can send back.
Bark and MyJobQuote sell window repairs to several firms
Bark prices each lead by "the service, the value of the job, and the supply and demand in the area", at £1.80 a credit, and its glaziers page tells customers a single window pane "often costs between £50 and £100". That is what the customer expects to pay you, not what the lead costs. MyJobQuote files glass under "Glazing - Double / Single", alongside hinges and handles, with up to 3 tradesmen on each lead. Checkatrade sells its lead plans from £59 a month, and Rated People leads now go to Checkatrade members. A cracked pane quoted by up to 3 tradesmen tends to go to the cheapest voice on the phone, which is the shared-lead trap in one job.
Zapo's glazing leads are window sales leads
Zapo's glazing page is titled "Double Glazing Leads" and promises leads "within the next 14 days", from £400 a month. Its cheapest plan forecasts 10 leads, about £40 each, and nothing on the page mentions broken glass or misted units. Lead Pronto, PromoSEO and Leads Everyday sell window leads elsewhere, and we found no glazier page at any of them.
Everything here about Leads Do Work's contract comes from its own published terms and conditions, last read on 1 October 2026. Terms get revised, so check yours against the current version before you act on anything.

Check my areaBuying the click yourself
The board-up click costs more than the board-up.
6 searches in this trade cost more than £20 a click, and all but the shop front are emergencies: "emergency board up" £33.83, "emergency glazier" £32.46, "board up service" £24.88, and "shop front glass replacement" £21.12. Every other glass search sits between £2.04 and £8.40. For the per-lead column divides each click by 7.33%, WordStream's conversion rate for home improvement search ads, which is US data, so treat it as a rough guide.
| Search | Searches a month | Per click | Per lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| emergency board up | 260 | £33.83 | £462 |
| emergency glazier | 390 | £32.46 | £443 |
| emergency glazing | 260 | £27.42 | £374 |
| emergency glazier near me | 320 | £25.29 | £345 |
| board up service | 140 | £24.88 | £339 |
| shop front glass replacement | 90 | £21.12 | £288 |
| window glass repair | 390 | £8.40 | £115 |
| broken window repair | 170 | £8.22 | £112 |
| replace glass in window | 3,600 | £6.26 | £85 |
| glass door replacement | 880 | £6.22 | £85 |
| glazier near me | 5,400 | £5.50 | £75 |
| glass repair near me | 1,000 | £5.12 | £70 |
| sealed unit replacement | 70 | £4.54 | £62 |
| glass splashback fitting | 110 | £3.58 | £49 |
| bespoke shower screen | 720 | £3.23 | £44 |
| misted window repair | 260 | £2.73 | £37 |
| mirror fitting | 720 | £2.04 | £28 |
Google Ads data for the UK, pulled 1 October 2026. Click prices are bid-based estimates, so what you actually pay will land near them rather than on them.
So a lead off the emergency searches costs about £288 to £462. Trades answering a homeowner on MyJobQuote in August priced a board-up at anything from under £100 to £300, and the Master Locksmiths Association says "from £100". Win every single one and a £462 lead is still 231% of a £200 board-up. The night-time call only pays if the glass that replaces the plywood comes back to you.
The cheap end of the table is where your own ads make sense. A lead off "misted window repair" costs about £37, off "bespoke shower screen" about £44 and off "glass splashback fitting" about £49, and no seller we found publishes a price for a shower screen or splashback lead. "glazier near me" gets 5,400 searches a month at £5.50, and "mirror fitting" is the cheapest click in the set at £2.04. What your own ads get you:
- Splashback and screen work no seller prices
- A ceiling on what the emergency click can cost
- Your firm's name on the ad the customer taps
- A unit price the caller has seen before you measure
- Clicks paid to Google, with nothing added
- An ad account that leaves with you
With emergency clicks over £20 and mirrors at £2.04, the split of a budget between night and day work decides the month; how much to spend on Google Ads covers setting it, and the Google Ads guide for tradesmen covers the account itself.
Local Services Ads take glass in through window repair
Google's UK category list has "Window repair services" and no category for glass or glaziers. Broken and misted units fit there; splashbacks, mirrors and shower screens don't fit anywhere, so a glazier there advertises as a window repairer. Whether that is worth it is in our Local Services Ads guide.
The paperwork
Swapping the glass in an old frame isn't building work. FENSA doesn't cover it.
In England, Approved Document K draws the line in one paragraph: "The replacement of glazing whilst retaining an existing frame (e.g. as a repair) is not building work, but the supply of the glazing may be subject to consumer protection legislation." New glazing, and "the replacement of a whole unit (i.e. the frame and glazing)", is building work.
FENSA says the same from its side: it "doesn't cover" "repairs (where frame not included)". Leads Do Work's glazier page still tells customers that glaziers registered with FENSA or the GGF "give customers confidence that replacement units will meet current building and safety standards". A homeowner who asks for a FENSA certificate on a new sealed unit is asking for a certificate the job doesn't need, and the glazier who can say why sounds like the one who knows the trade.
Where safety glass goes
ADK's critical locations are glazing in a door, or in a side panel within 300mm of one, up to 1500mm from the floor, and glazing in a wall up to 800mm.
What glass passes
Class 3 of BS EN 12600 or Class C of BS 6206, or Class 2 or Class B in a door or side panel pane over 900mm wide. ADK gives the reason plainly: "Hands, wrists and arms are particularly vulnerable."
Why it matters on a repair
A broken pane in a back door is a repair, so the rule doesn't bite in law. Quote safety glass for it anyway: the low-level zone exists because "children are especially vulnerable".
None of this is on a lead. "Two glass panels to be replaced in the kitchen" could be a window, a door or an internal screen. Ask which before you quote, and price the glass to the location, not to the hole.
The night-time call-out
The board-up can't be cancelled. The glass you quote the same night can be.
Board up a front window after a break-in and, on our reading rather than a ruling, you have made a visit "for the purpose of carrying out urgent repairs or maintenance". The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give that board-up no 14-day cooling-off. The same regulation keeps it for "services in addition to the urgent repairs or maintenance requested".
- The board-up they rang you out for: no 14 days
- The replacement unit you measure up that night: 14 days
- Safety glass you suggest for the door beside it: 14 days
- Starting that early: get their request in writing
That is where an emergency lead can pay after all: the board-up opens the door to the glass. Quote the glass properly, hand over the cancellation information with the quote, and don't treat it as part of the emergency. Lock changes on the same call-out are a locksmith's market, covered in our locksmith leads guide.
Through the year
Glazier searches dipped in December and peaked in the spring.
UK searches for "glazier near me" reached 6,600 in October, March and April and fell to 3,600 in December, about 1.8 times lower than the peak.
UK searches for "glazier near me", by month
September 2025 to August 2026. Google Ads keyword data, rounded bands.
The emergency searches move too
"emergency glazier" hit 880 in September 2025 and sat at 260 in its quietest months. At £32.46 a click, a daily cap on that campaign matters more than the bid.
Don't plan around one year
Twelve months of rounded bands can show a pattern but not explain it. Treat the December dip as the time to chase splashback and shower screen work, and check it against your own diary.
Where the lead came from
A glazing lead names a pane, not the site that took the customer's number.
The ICO puts the checking on you as the buyer. It wants "proportionate checks and due diligence", and says "It is not enough to simply accept a third party's assurances". We found no ICO action against a glass repair or board-up firm; the window sales firms it has fined are listed in our double glazing leads guide.
Before you pay for glazier leads, ask:
- Which website or ad did the customer fill in?
- Does the consent name my business?
- How many other glaziers get it?
- Is it glass only, or a whole new window?
- Can I return a lead that wants a new window?
The last question matters most here. Leads Do Work reviews returns by hand, so agree what counts as a window install before the first lead lands.
Which way to go
Buy the cheap repair leads. Advertise for the work nobody sells you.
Buy per lead if
- Units and panes fill your week
- A £7 lead is small beside £100
- The seller takes back window installs
- You reply within the hour
Think twice if
- Up to 5 firms can get the call
- You fit splashbacks and screens
- The seller only talks double glazing
- Nobody says which site it came from
Run your own if
- You want screens and splashbacks
- You cap the emergency spend
- You want the call to yourself
- The ad account is yours to take
In glass repair, a bought lead costs a fraction of a lead off your own ad. The money that leads don't reach is in the made-to-measure glass, and the emergency work only pays when the glass follows the plywood. How leads are sold in every other trade is in our guide to trade leads. Weighing a directory listing instead? Read is Checkatrade worth it first.
Our sources
Where every glazier figure here came from.
We build websites and run Google Ads for trades, so we have a side in this. Even so, on a single pane the bought lead comes out cheaper than your own ad, and the tables say so.
Seller pages and terms were read on their own sites on 1 October 2026, plus Leads Do Work's lead feed. Search volumes and click prices are Google Ads data for the UK, pulled the same day. Job prices are from MyBuilder's window glass guide, its toughened glass guide, MyJobQuote's blown window guide and Checkatrade's misted double glazing guide. The building rules are from Approved Document K and FENSA, Google's position from its Local Services Ads help, cancellation from the Consumer Contracts Regulations, and lead consent from the ICO.
Questions glaziers ask
Glazier leads, answered.
- How much do glazier leads cost in the UK?
- Leads Do Work publishes £7 a glazing lead from a homeowner and £11 from a business, plus VAT and an £11 weekly fee. Bark charges in credits at £1.80 each, priced by the job and the area. Zapo sells glazing leads from search ads from £400 a month, aimed at double glazing firms. Buy the click yourself and a glass search costs £2.04 to £33.83, with the emergency searches at the top.
- Are glazing leads shared with other glaziers?
- Usually. Leads Do Work's terms say 1 to 3 other firms compete for the same job, never more than 5. MyJobQuote lets up to 3 tradesmen take each lead, and Bark lets up to 5 professionals respond. Zapo says its leads are exclusive.
- What are bought glass replacement leads actually for?
- Mostly broken and blown units. Of the 10 leads on Leads Do Work's public glass replacement feed in September, 3 were rooflight or skylight glass, and the rest were broken or misted panes in windows, a garden room and a kitchen. None was a board-up, a splashback, a mirror or a shower screen.
- Are emergency glazier ads worth it?
- Only with your eyes open. "emergency glazier" costs £32.46 a click and "emergency board up" £33.83, which is roughly £443 and £462 a lead at WordStream's 7.33% conversion rate. Trades answering a homeowner on MyJobQuote priced a board-up at under £100 to £300. The emergency ad pays only if the board-up turns into the replacement glass, and that sale is cancellable.
- Does replacing the glass in a window need building regulations approval?
- Not in England, when the frame stays. Approved Document K says "The replacement of glazing whilst retaining an existing frame (e.g. as a repair) is not building work", and FENSA says it doesn't cover "repairs (where frame not included)". New glazing, or a whole unit of frame and glass, is building work and has to meet the safety glazing rules.
- What glass goes in a door or a low panel?
- For new work in England, Approved Document K treats glazing in a door, and in a side panel within 300mm of a door, up to 1500mm from the floor, and glazing in a wall up to 800mm, as critical locations. Glass there should meet Class 3 of BS EN 12600 or Class C of BS 6206, or Class 2 or Class B in a door or side panel pane more than 900mm wide.
- Can glaziers use Google Local Services Ads in the UK?
- Through the "Window repair services" category. Google's UK list has no glass or glazier category, so glass repair is the way in, and splashbacks, mirrors and shower screens have nowhere to go there.
- Can a customer cancel an emergency board-up?
- Not the urgent visit they asked you out for. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 take it out of the 14-day cancellation right. The replacement glass you quote the same night is a service in addition to the urgent repair, so it keeps the right. Give the cancellation information with that quote.
