For plumbers and heating engineers

Plumbing website design for the burst pipe and the bathroom.

A plumber gets two kinds of customer online. One is stood in a wet kitchen at 7am and wants to ring somebody now. The other is planning a new bathroom or boiler and will look at three of you before asking for a quote. We build websites for plumbers that win both: a number to tap for the first, and photos, reviews and registration numbers for the second.

Every call comes to your phone and nobody else's, and if you want the work coming in faster, we run Google Ads from your own account as well.

  • No setup fee

How plumbing customers choose

Two kinds of customer, two ways to win them.

The emergency customer has a burst pipe, water coming through the ceiling, a blocked drain or no hot water. They are on a phone, and they ring the first plumber who looks like they will actually turn up. They won't fill in a form and wait for a reply. They are also the dearest visitor you will ever pay for: an "emergency plumber" click is bid at £21.52, against £5.79 for "bathroom installation".

The planned customer wants a bathroom fitted, a combi swapped or a power flush. They have time, so they look at your photos, read your reviews and check you are who you say you are. A quote form suits them, because they want to describe the job before anybody comes round.

The mix moves with the seasons. UK searches for "boiler repair near me" ran at 14,800 a month at the October peak, against 2,900 in August, when the heating is off. A plumbing website that leads with bathrooms in summer and boiler breakdowns in autumn is talking to whoever is actually looking that month.

The 7am emergency

Wants a number to tap, the areas you cover and proof you are a real business. Rings in seconds or goes back to the results.

The planned job

Bathroom, new boiler, power flush. Compares photos, reviews and registrations, then asks for a quote.

The heat pump customer

Asks about the grant. In England and Wales it goes through an MCS certified installer, who applies for the customer.

What goes on it

The details a plumbing customer actually checks.

Plenty of web designers will tell you to put your Gas Safe number on your website. Few say which number, or what the customer does with it. Here is what goes on a plumbing website we build, and the reason each one earns its spot.

Your Gas Safe business number

A customer can text "Gas" and your business registration number to 85080 and get a reply saying whether you are registered. It goes beside the exact trading name you are registered under, because Gas Safe only allows its logo and number to appear with that name.

The gas work you are registered for

The back of every Gas Safe ID card lists the work that engineer is competent to do. We name those jobs on the website rather than writing "all gas work", so what a customer reads matches what they can check.

No boiler work you are not registered for

Gas work in a home has to be done by a Gas Safe registered business, and the regulations say nobody may falsely pretend to be registered. If you are a plumber without gas registration, boilers stay off your website.

WaterSafe, if you are approved

An approved plumber can do certain work without telling the water supplier first, and issues a Certificate of Compliance. That earns a line on a bathroom or mains job, because the customer gets something an unapproved plumber cannot give them.

MCS, if you fit heat pumps

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant goes through MCS certified installers, who apply on the customer's behalf. If you are certified, the website says so and says you sort the grant. If you are not, the grant stays off it.

The number before anything else

The call button sits at the top and loads in under two seconds on a phone. Your real job photos, reviews and the quote form sit below it for the customer who is planning rather than panicking.

What you get

One website, built around both jobs.

Every plumber we work with starts on Momentum, a one-page website with the call button up top for the emergency and your photos, reviews and registrations below it for the planned work. We write the words, you send photos of real jobs, and nothing goes live without your yes. The monthly tweaks are what let it move boilers to the front when the heating season starts.

Fast Start adds Google Ads and a page for every service and area you advertise, so somebody searching for a blocked drain lands on a page about blocked drains rather than one about bathrooms.

Momentum, £100 a month

  • A one-page website built to win work
  • Made to turn visitors into phone calls
  • Words written to win the job
  • Your best work shown off
  • Quick to load on a phone
  • Leads sent straight to you
  • Tweaks and updates every month

Fast Start, £300 a month on top

  • A page for every service and area you advertise
  • Ad copy written, images made
  • Call and lead tracking installed
  • Run and tuned around the clock

Your ad budget is separate and goes straight to Google on your own card. You set it, and we agree it with you before we start. We run Fast Start on a minimum budget of £500 a month.

What it costs

The whole month, before you sign.

Here is the month both ways, split by who gets the money. On the ads route the cheapest month is £900: £400 comes to us, and at least £500 goes to Google on your own card for the clicks.

The only other bill is your domain name, which you pay for and keep.

What a plumbing click costs

The dearest click is the one that wants to ring.

These are the bids for the searches plumbing customers make. The emergency searches sit at the top, and those are the people least likely to fill in a form. Send one to a website without a number to tap and you have paid £21.52 for somebody who rang the next plumber instead.

Planned work is cheaper per click and slower to decide, which is why the photos, reviews and quote form carry more of the weight there.

Who owns what

What stays yours if you leave.

Every customer who rings you is yours, and so is every job they turn into. The table sets out the rest item by item, the same way our terms do.

The website build is the one part that stays with us. While you pay, it is live and taking calls. If you cancel, it comes offline, and the customers it brought you stay with you.

About Google

We leave the ranking promises to somebody else.

"No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google."

Most plumbing web designers bundle in SEO and a line about ranking for "plumber" in your town. We don't sell it. The slot at the top when somebody searches "emergency plumber" near you is an ad, its price per click is in the table above, and Fast Start buys it from your own Google Ads account. There is more on how that works in Google Ads for tradesmen.

Real results

A plumber and a heating engineer, both busier now.

Both had a website already and neither was bringing in much. Mick, a plumber in Coventry, had an old Wix site. Gary, a heating engineer in Bristol, had one that looked alright and did very little. Here is what came back once we rebuilt them.

Heating Engineer - Bristol

Booked out 6 weeks in 45 days

Gary's old site looked alright but brought in next to nothing. We rebuilt it around what his customers want, with reviews up front. Booked out six weeks in 45 days.

Plumber - Coventry

1 call a week to 13

Mick had 1,400 local followers and an old Wix site that hadn't landed a job in months. We rebuilt it around one clear offer. His calls went from 1 a week to 13.

Straight answers

What plumbers ask before signing.

How much does a plumbing website cost with you?
£100 a month with VAT included, for the website, the hosting and a round of changes every month. There is no setup fee and no build fee. Google Ads through Fast Start is £300 a month on top, plus an ad budget of at least £500 a month that you pay Google directly. Your domain name you pay for yourself, and it stays yours.
Which Gas Safe number should go on my website?
Your business registration number, next to the trading name on the Register. Texting "Gas" plus that number to 85080 tells a customer if it is registered. Each engineer also has a seven-digit licence number on their ID card, which a customer can check the same way when somebody turns up.
I don't do gas work. Can my website still mention boilers?
Not as work you take on. Only a Gas Safe registered business may do gas work in a home, and implying you are registered when you are not breaks the gas safety regulations. We write your website around the plumbing you actually do and leave boiler work off it.
Should my website get people to ring or to fill in a form?
Both, for different jobs. Emergency customers ring, so the call button sits at the top and loads first. Bathroom and boiler customers often want to describe the job first, so the quote form sits lower down beside your photos and reviews.
How long until my plumbing website is live?
Send your details, your Gas Safe number and a handful of job photos, and it is normally up three days later. The ads come after that, once the website is live and your own Google Ads account is open.
Can you run ads for emergency call-outs?
Yes, through Fast Start, in your own Google Ads account. Emergency searches are the dearest clicks in plumbing, so each ad lands on a page about that job with the call button at the top. Nobody can honestly promise you a number of call-outs by a date, and we won't.
Is there a contract?
No. You pay by monthly Direct Debit with no minimum term, cancel through the form on our website or with your bank, and it ends at the close of that billing month.
Do I own the website?
You keep what it wins: your leads, your customers and your domain name, and on Fast Start the Google Ads account as well. The website build stays with us. It is live while you pay, and if you cancel it comes offline and cannot be moved elsewhere.
